Sometimes love is right where you left it.

Sadie Hart has a plan: return to her small town of Hope Springs so she can regain her confidence—and bank account—before giving one more shot to her country music dream. The dream that means more to her than anything. The dream she chose over her high school sweetheart, the brooding and sinfully handsome Royce Dixon.

Royce has moved on from his memories of the beautiful Sadie. Now he’s focused solely on running Second Chance Ranch, where he rehabilitates troubled teens through ranch work. But when he needs a new employee and Sadie’s the only one to volunteer, he has no choice but to offer his old flame a job.

Whether riding a horse with the wind in her hair or mucking out the stalls, Sadie can still get Royce’s heart beating like no one else. But Nashville is her dream, and Royce can’t settle for second best.

I love when authors join forces and create crossover characters in their books. We first meet Sadie Hart in Rachel Harris's Accidentally Married on Purpose, where she makes a very brief cameo to sing at Blue's induction to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Fellow Bliss author, Cindi Madsen, has written us Sadie's story and I will just tell you up front. I loved it. Second Chance Ranch drew me in right away and I could not get enough of Sadie and Royce together!

My heart broke for Sadie. After leaving her family, high school boyfriend, and her home behind to head to Nashville to pursue a singing career, she now finds herself back where she started. She still has her family and her home, but her high school boyfriend was one of the sacrifices she had to make to try and follow her dreams. Being back home to get her bearings straight, causes old memories to resurface of a time where her and Royce were happy and completely head over heels in love.

Now, there is a tension between them and Royce is determined not to let the beautiful, blonde woman he once loved back into his heart. Royce has his own problems to deal with, as the ranch he and his mother run desperately needs a woman employee to help avoid any potential scandals or credibility problems. Second Chance Ranch is a place where troubled teens are sent to learn what hard, honest work is and also to provide them with the encouragement they need to turn their lives around. Royce finds himself at a crossroads, as Sadie needs a job and he seems to be the only one who actually has work. She knows the ranch well and he has gotten a glimpse of her briefly interacting with one of the tough to crack kids there. He knows she won't plan to stick around long anyway, so as long as he keeps things professional between them, they should be able to make a go of it.

I love second chance romances. Sadie and Royce still have that spark and they are genuinely good for one another. It's easy to fall back into old ways and remember how good they used to be together. The last thing Royce expects is to fall for her again, especially after having his heart broken by her so many years ago. It's a slow fall though. Madsen doesn't rush their relationship, which made it feel that much more meaningful and important, as it's the real thing.

The ending was perfection and I love what Royce did at the rodeo. It was one of those perfect moments that could be straight out of a movie. I cannot recommend this book enough because it's just a sweet love story that will leave your heart happy and full.

Cindi Madsen sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children. She is the YA author of DEMONS OF THE SUN & ALL THE BROKEN PIECES, and the adult author of FALLING FOR HER FIANCE, ACT LIKE YOU LOVE ME and CINDERELLA SCREWED ME OVER.
